DIY Press On Nails

If you know me, you know I love to have my nails done. But going to the nail salon every few weeks can be pricey. In order to save some money, I tried out press on nails and fell in love.

What I wasn’t loving was the plain Jane designs most press ons have. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and paint them myself. I started off making a set just for the Halloween season. It’s actually pretty fun to do, so check out how I created these slimey bad boys below!

What you’ll need:

  • Set of plain press on nails
  • Nail polish of your choice
  • Nail glue
  • Nail file
  • Orange wood stick
  • Poster putty
  • Toothpicks

Step One: Choose which size press on fits each of your natural nails best. (Tip: keep them in order once you find your sizes, especially if your design incorporates different things on specific nails)

Step Two: Using putty, attach each nail to the end of a toothpick. Simply roll up a small piece of the putty, then secure it to the end of the toothpick. Your nail should firmly stick to it, but not so much that it won’t come off when you need it to later.

Step Three: Once your press on nails are secured to the toothpicks you are ready to paint your design! Just place a finger on the toothpick attached to the nail you’re painting to hold it still. I used the polish’s brush for my base, then a teeny-tiny paint brush for the ooey gooey slime. (Tip: paint two coats of polish for your base color, let these coats dry completely before going in with any designs!)

Step Four: Let your nails dry! Letting them dry completely is very important. If your design is very thick (like the slime on my nails), I recommend letting them dry overnight.

Step Five: Push your cuticles back with an orange wood stick, and gently file the surface of your natural nails. Doing this is key in making your press ons last!

Step Six: It’s finally time to apply your nails! Apply one nail at a time, since nail glue dries quite quickly. Cover the surface of one natural nail with a thin layer of glue, then line up the back of the press on nail with your cuticle and press it onto your natural nail. Press on the nail until you feel it is secure, then continue to the next nail. Repeat until all ten press on nails are glued on! (Tip: be sure to wait at least an hour after applying your nails to get your hands wet!)

Step Seven: Rock those claws! 💅🏻

Whether you’re dressing up for a Halloween party, a special occasion, or just want to wear some nails for fun, I recommend trying out customizing your own press ons. They’re a budget friendly way to have nice nails and they were fun to make!

If you decide to make your own nails, I would love to see them! Feel free to DM me on Instagram some pictures of what you create.

Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation Review

If you keep up with the latest in makeup, you’ve probably at least heard about Urban Decay’s latest creation: Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation. Beauty Bloggers all over have been raving about it. So when it was time for me to pick up another bottle of foundation, I opted for UD’s Stay Naked rather than reaching for my old trusty, CoverFX Power Play Foundation.

First, lets start off with the basics. The UD Stay Naked Weightless Foundation is a medium coverage, waterproof, liquid foundation that promises to stay on up to 24 hours. They describe the finish as a “real-skin matte.”

The foundation comes in 50 different shades – including nine shade intensities, three “master tones,” and seven undertones. The shade range is impressive and really makes it easy to find your perfect match.

Now let’s jump into the review!

When they say this foundation goes on like a second skin, they’re really not lying. It sits on your skin so nicely, yet doesn’t settle in fine lines at all. It does take about two layers to get the coverage I need for my acne scarring and dark circles, but I’m convinced I could put layer upon layer of this stuff on and it wouldn’t get cakey. It really is weightless, too. Even when first applying it, I can’t feel it on my face!

But does is stand the test of time? Surprisingly enough, this weightless foundation stays on just as well as foundations that feel like paint on your skin. I actually wanted to test its limits, and wore it to a car show. I was outside, in 95 degree weather, literally all day and my face didn’t budge, even though I was constantly sweating. I was impressed, to say the least! What’s more impressive is that my skin gets oily as the day goes on, and it still did not effect its staying power. While sweating profusely though, this foundation will transfer just a bit, which wasn’t a huge deal to me. With this product being so light and airy, I didn’t expect it to stick the way it did. The “up to 24 hour wear” claims are legit, y’all.

It does not seem to oxidize on my skin after wearing it for a while either, so those oh so accurate shade matches will stay that way.

I’m also pumped that this foundation is vegan and cruelty free! I tend to be picky about the beauty products I use on my skin, so I love the fact that this is formulated without icky ingredients. I’ve been using it for about a month continuously now and I can say it has not caused any abnormal breakouts for me!

All in all, I love this foundation. I think it will definitely be my new go to. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still obsessed with CoverFX Power Play and its unbeatable coverage and staying power, but it’s nice to change things up every now and again.

Take a look at the video below where I demonstrate how I use Urban Decay’s Stay Naked Weightless Foundation and show off the end result after completing my makeup!

As you can see in the video, I prepped my skin with Urban Decay’s Optical Illusion Complexion Primer. I use a flat top brush to apply and blend the foundation. I usually use two pumps in order to achieve the coverage I like, but I prefer to apply one pump at a time. Pump, blend, pump, blend!

Off camera, I followed up with Tarte Shape Tape Concealer on my dark circles and any blemishes that needed it. Then I set everything with W3ll People Bio Baked pressed powder.

In conclusion, Urban Decay Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation is amazing and you should try it out if you’re in the market for a longwear matte foundation. Of course, not everything will work for everyone, but in this case I think it’s worth a shot. I’m definitely glad I strayed away from my tried and true product and changed it up this time.

I’d love to hear what you think about UD’s new foundation! If you’ve tried it, have you used the Stay Naked Concealer yet? I can’t imagine loving something more than Shape Tape, but I may have to try that out next!

Why you should be Livin’ Lively, too

If you follow me on Instagram, you should know I’m a big fan of Lively, a lingerie company specializing in what they call “Leisurée,” or “athleisure for lingerie” according to Stylecaster.

Lively black mesh lace bralette and panties

The company has over 60 years of experience in manufacturing lingerie, and they source the highest quality materials they can find for their brand. Lively also owns their own factory, meaning they have control over every detail throughout the production process.

Lively, however, is not only about the products they sell. According to their website:

“it is about a mindset we want to share with women around the world. One that reminds, empowers, and enables us all to live life doing what we love, with the people we love!”

Cool, right? A brand that’s all for empowering women! Lively is also quite inclusive in comparison to some lingerie brands. With a wide array of sizing options and several shades of nudes, there’s something for nearly everyone!

Not only that, but this brand produces some of the comfiest bras, panties, swimwear, and loungewear I’ve ever owned! Seriously, I threw out all of my Victoria’s Secret bras as soon as I discovered Lively.

Not completely sold on the comfort level of Lively’s products? Take my word for it – I suffer from chronic pain due to fibromyalgia, and normally, bras and I don’t get along. They sit on some typically tender spots for me and there’s usually no way I can get through a full day of bra-wearing. Lively’s bralettes have been a game changer, though. I’ve even forgotten I had one on at times, which used to never be a thing!

Lively also offers accessories and apparel like totes and tees! They even have their own signature scent, “Jasmine. Sea. Sun.,” you can buy in your choice of candle or perfume.

The quality and comfort of Lively can’t be beat, and the prices are pretty good as well. They also offer a rewards program, making it easy to earn discounts on future purchases. You get free shipping with every order over $40 and if you don’t care for what you bought, or it does not fit, Lively offers free returns.

Lastly, I would just like to point out that I am not getting paid to write this post – I am just passionate about comfortable undergarments, tbh. So if you haven’t yet, do yourself a favor and try out Lively!
